An original 1968 first theatrical release poster in East Germany for Cheyenne Autumn, a 1964 native American Indian epic western directed by John Ford.  It tell the true story of a band of Cheyenne Indians who, starved nearly to extinction on an inhospitable reservation, embark on the long trek back to their distant ancestral homelands in Wyoming, despite opposition from the US Army. Their journey revives old hatreds and the threat of war. This poster is a stunning piece of graphic art by East German artist Fred Westphal.
